2027 Award Application (Nomination) Forms
Applications for 2027 professional and student awards will be posted in September 2026.
Over the past year, the Council has carefully reviewed each award and redesigned the nomination process to make it clearer, more accessible, and more reflective of the outstanding professionals who serve our engineering community. Our goal is simple: to ensure that every deserving candidate has the opportunity to be recognized. This year, we are asking for your help in expanding participation.
Rather than selecting a single nominee within your organization, we encourage you to share the nomination materials with your entire membership. Please distribute the applications through your newsletters, email lists, websites, and social media channels so that all eligible members are aware of the opportunity.
We also want to highlight several important aspects of the nomination process:
- Self-nominations are welcomed and encouraged. Outstanding candidates should never go unrecognized simply because no one else completed the paperwork.
- There is no limit to the number of nominations an organization may sponsor. We encourage organizations to support every qualified candidate who wishes to apply.
- Individuals or employers are encouraged to prepare nomination packages themselves. Once completed, the nominee’s professional organization simply needs to sponsor the nomination with a signature by confirming the individual is a member in good standing.
The Council presents four annual awards recognizing excellence in different aspects of the engineering profession:
Engineer of the Year
Our highest individual honor, recognizing a licensed Professional Engineer whose career reflects sustained excellence in technical achievement, leadership, professional service, mentorship, and community involvement.
Young Engineer of the Year
Recognizes an engineer under the age of 36 or an early-career licensed Professional Engineer who has demonstrated exceptional technical ability, leadership, professional involvement, and service to the engineering profession and community.
Technical Achievement Award
Honors an individual who is not a licensed Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training whose technical expertise, innovation, research, teaching, or other professional contributions have made a significant impact within their field.
John H. McCormick Educational Outreach Award
Recognizes an individual whose sustained efforts have inspired students and the public through STEM education, mentorship, outreach, workforce development, or other initiatives that strengthen engineering education in Central Pennsylvania.
Student Awards: One time award for a high achieving High School senior from the Central Pennsylvania geographic area who will intend to study an engineering major in college.
We will continue to highlight college posters and presentations for the 2027 banquet. More information will be announced in the fall of 2026.
